The Choice Movie Premiere | Keating & Co.

If you know anything about me, you know that I am a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks.  I first started reading his books back in high school and was instantly hooked on them after reading The Notebook (I must have read it five times).  It was so good that I just had to pick up another!  It’s so easy to get lost in a Nicholas Sparks book.  To me, a good book transports you to another place, where you’re able to see and experience everything right alongside your favorite characters.  Everything comes to life.  His books are set in coastal North Carolina, typically around the New Bern area and take place throughout the summer months, making them the perfect summer romance novels.

His books always made me dream of someday moving to North Carolina and being able to have my own, southern love story.  There’s just something about the south that is truly romantic and wonderful.  The beaches, the marshes, the southern hospitality.  It’s the perfect setting to fall in love.  Which is exactly what I did.

When I fell in love with Zack, he was stationed in Jacksonville, NC, about an hour or so south of New Bern and an hour north of Wilmington.  We dated and fell in love long distance for about 2-3 weeks before I got the courage to make the 15 hour road trip down to see him that July.  I took a week off from work, packed my bags, and was off to North Carolina on my first road trip by myself.  It was a little scary to be driving so far completely alone, but I couldn’t have been more excited to see him.

When I finally got to his street and was nearing his driveway, I saw the light from his cell phone outside waiting for me.  I parked the car, took a deep breathe, and slowly stepped out of the car.  Instantly, I was pulled into his arms.  After taking a few more deep breathes, I started to realize how natural it felt to be in his arms.  I wanted it to feel natural, but I wasn’t expecting to feel this comfortable so quickly.  It was like we had been together for years.  Being in his arms was absolutely perfect.  It was my new happy place.

I slowly pulled away to look up at him and he leaned in to kiss me.  There, under the stars, on a warm summer night in North Carolina, he kissed me for the first time.  And I knew, instantly, that I was in fact completely in love with him.  In my mind, that moment was straight out of a Nicholas Sparks book.  Our entire love story is set in coastal North Carolina.  Because of this, I feel even more connected with his books now.

When I found out The Choice was being made into a movie, I couldn’t wait to see it in theaters!  Like the rest of Nicholas Sparks’ books, I absolutely have to see them when they hit theaters.  I’m a very visual person so it’s fun to actually see everything I’ve been imagining as I read the book.  I can actually see the setting they’re in and watch them fall in love right in front of me.

I definitely don’t want to be giving away too many details so I’ll keep my summary super short (no one likes spoilers, am I right?!).  Like others, The Choice takes place in coastal North Carolina.  Gabby is a medical student who happens to move next door to a ladies man named Travis.  Gabby is ready to settle down with her long-term boyfriend while Travis is avoiding a serious relationship at all costs.  As you can imagine, the two fall for each other and embark on a romantic journey together.  The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

How far would you go?  How far would any of us go for love?  I’m sure many people out there have moments where they question their life choices and the choices they’ve made in their love lives that ultimately got them to where they are today.  Because of this, The Choice can resonate with so many different people.  Everyone can agree that they have this in common.  I know I do.

You can check out a sneak peek for The Choice below!  With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to take your significant other (or your girlfriends) to see it!
