[ad] I'm a girl who loves a good manicure so I love to save time and money by doing my nails myself at home. Between constantly typing on my computer, cleaning the house, and chasing a toddler my nails really taking a beating. Because of this, my “manicures” tend to last me maybe 24 hours if I’m lucky. At that point, I was doing my nails on the daily and ain’t no mama got time for that! This week I'm sharing my love for @cndworld and my top tips for getting a flawless manicure from the comfort of your own home! #CNDVINYLUXatRA #sponsored •

Why We Chose To Formula Feed

Why We Chose To Formula Feed

When women find out they’re going to be moms they’re immediately faced with a ton of big important decisions. They’re all of a sudden in charge of another human life and making sure that child is happy and healthy. One of the big topics is how to feed them. Are you going to breastfeed exclusively? Will you pump? Will you not give breast milk at all and just stick to formula feeding? Will you do a mix of all of the above? There’s a lot to consider when choosing what’s best for you and your child but there’s no right or wrong answer either.

I knew I’d formula feed long before we found out I was pregnant with Allie. There’s really no big story behind it. There wasn’t a long pros and cons list. There wasn’t hours of research or anything like that either. I honestly didn’t even attempt to breastfeed when Allie was born. My mind was 100% set on formula feeding and there was no changing that decision.

A lot of the time, it’s assumed that I’m formula feeding simply because I cannot breastfeed. And while this is a pretty common issue, it’s definitely not the only reason why a woman would choose to formula feed. Some women (like myself) simply don’t want to breastfeed. And that’s okay! I had zero desire in whipping my boob out in a public place to feed my child. I had zero desire to hook myself up to a pump because honestly, it would make me feel like an animal. I had zero desire to be the only person able to feed my child simply because Zack obviously can’t breastfeed. I had zero desire to have our daughter constantly attached to me at all times throughout the day. And lastly, I knew without a doubt that it would have a negative impact on my mental health.

As someone who’s experienced depression in the past and continues to experience anxiety on an everyday basis, I knew that it would be essential to keep tabs on my mental health at all times once Allie was born in order to keep postpartum depression away. And I knew breastfeeding would only cause me more stress, anxiety, and depression. So it just wasn’t an option. And again, that’s okay! I’m not in any way saying formula is better than breast milk or breast milk is better than formula. Both have their pros and cons and every family should choose based off of what’s best for their family.

When choosing which formula I wanted to be using in our home, I knew right from the start which one I’d use: Enfamil. Like my choice to formula feed, choosing which formula I used was a pretty simple and straightforward decision. Here’s why:

  1. It’s recommended by doctors. Enfamil is the #1 infant formula brand recommended by pediatricians. It’s the same brand our hospital uses with all their new babies.
  2. Vitamins and nutrients. Enfamil includes all the vitamins and nutrients babies need to grow and be the healthiest they can be. Enfamil Infant contains DHA which is essential for new babies and has shown to foster learning ability from infancy through age 5.
  3. It’s convenient! Enfamil comes in so many different forms to fit your personal needs and lifestyle. For example, we have the regular Enfamil tubs that we use at home and then I purchase the 4 oz packets to take on the go with us. It makes it super easy to make a bottle in the car when needed or when we’re out running errands. And the packets take up very little space in my bag as well. They also make ready to use, premade formula as well which we used when our daughter was an infant.
  4.  Variety. Enfamil covers a wide range of issues. When I say ‘issues’, I mean things like gas and spit up and things like that. We started Allie on Enfamil Newborn and then switched her to Enfamil Gentlease when she was about 3 weeks old to help with some gas issues she was having. She’s been on Gentlease ever since and we love it! It’s perfect for her.

Currently, Enfamil is having a Free Formula for a Year promotion where a family like yours can win an entire year’s supply of formula for FREE! In order to enter, you must sign up to Enfamil Family Beginnings and you must enter by December 31, 2017. No purchase is necessary to enter. why we chose to formula feed - fed is best

Like a lot of parents who choose to formula feed, I’ve gotten my share of rude comments and questions. Things like “why didn’t you want the best for your child? or “why would you choose to put formula in your child’s body?” or “it’s a really selfish choice to not breastfeed”. I’ve even been told that my daughter “isn’t as healthy as breastfed babies”. I’m sure many of you moms who choose to formula feed have gotten very similar comments and questions as well.

So far in Allie’s 5 (almost 6) months of life, I have yet to have a single moment where I regret my decision to formula feed. We have been so blessed to have such a beautiful and happy and healthy little girl. We have the sweetest little girl we could possibly ask for. She wakes up with a smile on her face every single morning. The type of smile that makes you not even care what time of day it is that she’s waking up. She makes it impossible to be unhappy.

I don’t feel any less connected to my child simply because I’m not breastfeeding. I don’t feel like she and I lack in bonding time in any way. I also don’t feel that my child is any less happy or healthy than those babies who are breastfed because I know Enfamil is giving her the vitamins and nutrients her tiny body needs to thrive. I chose the best for my child and the best for her was Enfamil.

Did you choose to formula feed? Why?
