[ad] Today I am dreaming of Christmas parties. Anyone else? We’re only halfway through the month and we’ve already had more family gatherings than I can count with so many more to go. And Christmas parties in the Bartlett household means photos…lots of photos. But I just didn't feel very photo-ready thanks to my grays (and yes, I had A LOT of grays). So I picked up @zotosprofessional hair color at @sallybeauty and these days I'm feeling gorgeous, confident, and ready to take on the holiday photos. Today on the blog, I'm sharing how I get myself photo-ready as well as what I plan to wear to this year's Christmas party! #MyAgeBeautiful #sponsored #linkinbio

[ad] Today I am dreaming...

I've been a bit MIA lately. Why you may ask? Well, because I've been half on the struggle bus and half working on a rather large project that I've had in draft mode for far too long. And I am SO excited about it. I literally woke up the other day and decided THAT was the day I'd get started on it and I've been hooked on it ever since. If you're a mom in Southern Maine, you won't want to miss this! So be sure to sign up for our email list via the link in my bio so you can be one of the first to know what's going on.

I've been a bit MIA...

Well, it's officially the day Zack and I have been looking forward to for a couple of years now. While we've already unofficially been "moved on" from military life for a couple of months now, today it's official that Zack is no longer an Active Duty Marine and I am no longer a military spouse. The first big chapter of his adult life and our life together has officially ended. It's scary almost when you've been living with all the stability of a lifestyle for so long. A stable job, stable income, health benefits, a home. It's been a challenging couple of months as we get more settled here in Maine and figure out the next step for our little family. But I know we have so much to look forward to in the next year and it's refreshing to know we have the opportunity to start over. I am so proud of this guy and I can't wait to see what the next chapter of our life has in store for us. •

Well, it's officially the day...

This mama is on the struggle bus today. This morning I spent over an hour searching for Allie's sippy cup of milk only to find it in the shower...where I looked 5+ times considering that's where she was playing while I got ready for the day. I then got the incorrect order from Dunkin and to make that even worse, it was pumpkin flavored...and if you know me, you know I cannot stand anything pumpkin flavored so I couldn't even suck it up and drink it (shoutout to @mwhited8195 for bringing me the correct drink order!). Nap time wasn't any better. A solid 40 minutes of crying before Allie finally went down...then she woke up 30 minutes later 🙄 And now I'm scrambling to get everything on my to-do list done so we can officially launch Blogmas tomorrow 😬 It's been a morning and I'm about ready for my own nap at this point. But at least it's Friday? 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

This mama is on the...

It's yet another snow day here in Maine. The last winter I spent here was in 2015 and we maybe had three snow storms all winter. This year, we've had 3-5 just in the last couple of weeks 🙄 I'm already homesick for beautiful and warm North Carolina summers 😔 anyone else here who hates winter? If you need us, Allie and I will be curled up inside with some movies and a never-ending to-do list. #bloggerlife •

Get Fit This Holiday Season With These 8 Easy Tips!

Get Fit This Holiday Season With These 8 Easy Tips! - The holidays are horrible when it comes to healthy habits. Don't let the holidays ruin your fitness goals. Here's how to get fit during the holiday season.

Oh, the holidays. When you think of the holidays, you instantly think of the delicious holiday goodies and Starbucks holiday drinks and parties with friends and family. It’s literally the time of year when all health and fitness goals go out the door because so many holiday activities are centered around food and gatherings. You go from Halloween in October to Thanksgiving in November to Christmas in December. It’s just one holiday after the other and it makes it so hard to stay on track and stay healthy.

Then we all enter the new year with the goal to get back in shape which, let’s all be honest, how many of you actually stick to this? Unless you already work out consistently, I’m guessing this resolution maybe lasts a month or two. Don’t feel bad. We’ve all done it. We’re all guilty. But this year, let’s vow to stay on track with our fitness goals and keep ourselves happy and healthy. Here’s how to do it!

Don’t drink your calories

Yes, this means you probably shouldn’t be having a Starbucks holiday drink on a daily basis. As delicious as they are, there are just so many sweeteners in them. They’re literally just sugar and caffeine. Amazingly delicious and addictive, but try to limit the number of drinks you’re purchasing each day as well as throughout the week. Instead, be sure to drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated.

Keep up your workouts

This is super important. You must keep your work out schedule running smoothly and consistently. Or, if you don’t already work out, then this is the perfect time to start! Find a gym in your area, get a membership, and start making it a priority each week. If you don’t have the money for a membership, then check out YouTube for some awesome at-home workouts you can do in your spare time. It doesn’t have to be every day and it doesn’t have to be an intense workout, especial if you’re not already in the habit of doing it. Start off slow if needed. Even just getting up and moving helps a ton! So take your dog for a walk or go for a jog in the morning. As long as you’re up and moving, you’re making an effort!

Find your motivation.

It can be super challenging to find the motivation to work out and eat healthy this time of year. Especially when these aren’t already habits of yours. If you’re having a hard time motivating yourself to go to the gym, then check out this handy post right here. For me, my biggest motivator is having a body I’m proud of. And man have I worked hard for that this past year. Whatever your motivation may be or how you get yourself to the gym, find what works for you and do it!

Chose a workout buddy

Having a work out buddy helped me so much when I first started working out. It made it more fun to go so rather than dreading it, I looked forward to it. Plus I had someone else telling me to get off my butt rather than having to motivate myself to do it. Then once it became a habit of mine, I was easily able to get myself to go without needing a friend to go with me. Now, I actually prefer to work out on my own so that I have the focus I need to have a good work out.

Eat at home

This saves so much money in addition to being better for you. By eating at home, you’re better able to control how much you’re eating and what it is that you’re eating. It’s so easy to just grab something to eat while you’re out running errands or doing your Christmas shopping. But it’s not typically the best food choices. So instead of grabbing a quick bite to eat while you’re out, opt to have food at home. If you eat before leaving the house, then you’re less likely to eat a lot while you’re out.

Set realistic goals

If you’ve never worked out a day in your life, then it may be a bit much to set a goal to work out 5 days a week. Is it impossible? Of course not! But don’t set yourself up to fail either. Allow yourself to ease into it. Also, take into account how busy your schedule may be during the holiday season. I tend to slow down slightly when it comes to my workouts this time of year because I’m just so busy with the blog. I take on a ton of extra work this time of year. So even though I still try to hit the gym 5 days a week like usual, I’m perfectly okay with settling for 3 days due to my crazy schedule. This is a much more realistic goal. So try to set smaller goals that are attainable, but will still help you reach your overall goal!

Get plenty of sleep

Sleep is so crucial! It’s so easy for your sleep routines to go completely out the door this time of year. It’s normal, but it’s not the healthiest. So you may have to try a little harder this time of year to get in a full 8+ hours of sleep each night. If you’re well-rested then you’re better able to tackle your to-do lists and stay on top of everything you have going on throughout the day.

Indulge every once in a while

Yup. I said it. Have a treat every once in a while. You really don’t have to say ‘no’ to every treat that comes your way. It’s the holidays! It’s the time to eat! Just be sure to have some self-control and limit the amount of junk you’re eating. Don’t make it an everyday occurrence and you should be good!

How do you plan to stay fit throughout the holiday season?
