Bloody Mary’s were never my thing until I married into Zack’s family. Holidays on his side always include Bloody Mary’s. And now, I love them! So for Christmas this year, Zack and I decided we wanted to pick up everything we needed to make them in our home. We’ve never made them ourselves so we had to call family for the recipe. For first-timers, they didn’t come out too bad.

The great thing about a Bloody Mary is that it’s a very universal cocktail. You can have them with brunch, as an afternoon pick-me-up or even as a relaxing end to your day. You can literally have them at any point in your day! This Bloody Mary is full of flavor and spices but is also easily customizable to fit your individual preferences. Be sure to taste test as you go and don’t be afraid to go big if you love spice!

What You Need:

4-6 oz of you Vodka of choice

16 oz of Tomato Juice OR Bloody Mary Mix (*Note that Bloody Mary mix typically contains spices already. So keep that in mind when adding the rest of the ingredients!)

2-3 Shakes of Tobasco Sauce

1/2 TBS of Prepared Horseradish

2 Shakes of Celery Salt

2 TBS of Lemon Juice

1/2 TBS of Worcestershire Sauce

2 Shakes of Black Pepper

*Optional: Shrimp, Celery Stick, Olives, etc.

How To Make The Perfect Bloody Mary:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Fill glasses halfway with ice.
  2. Mix all of the ingredients together in a separate pitcher or container, stir it up well, and then pour mixture into your cocktail shaker, one batch at a time. Give it a good shaking to get it nice and cold, then pour the contents into your prepared glass.
  3. Decorate your drink the way you like it. We love adding green olives and shrimp to our glasses. You can also add in a celery stick, lemon or lime slice, or anything else you want!

This recipe is fully customizable. Be sure to taste test as you go to make sure it’s not too spicy or not spicy enough. If it’s too spicy then you can add more tomato juice. If it’s not spicy enough then add more horseradish or Tobasco sauce. Again, customize it to your liking!
