Good morning and welcome to a new series I’m starting here on Mainely Keating! Recently I’ve come to realize my bathroom and closet looks like its own ULTA store. It’s kind of ridiculous. I have the habit of buying a TON of makeup and beauty products and then to make that obsession worse, I also get sent product in the mail from various brands or I’ll have to go out and purchase products for campaigns. At this point it’s a bit out of hand. So since we’re in the process of moving in the next few months, I decided it would be best to start using up all of the products I currently own prior to our move. It’s not only saving us money, but it’s decluttering my beauty product collection as well. So let’s get started on what I used up this month!
TRESemme Heat Tamer. This has been a well-loved product of mine since high school! I love this heat tamer so much. I think I had originally heard of it from one of my favorite YouTubers. She highly recommended it so I went out and bought it and instantly fell in love.
Dove Refresh+ Care Detox and Purify Dry Shampoo. First off, I am not a dry shampoo kind of girl. This one is my current favorite, but if someone could explain dry shampoo to me, that would be wonderful. Maybe I’m expecting too much but when I use dry shampoo, I want my hair to look and feel clean and instead, it’s left feeling thick and a bit gross. It pretty much just creates product build up on my hair. So I don’t understand the appeal of dry shampoo. So if someone could explain this to me, it would be greatly appreciated!
CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Next we have the CeraVe cleanser. My friend Autumn recommended this cleanser (and the moisturizer) to me a few months ago to help with my super dry skin and it’s been a great product to have in my bathroom. I use it every day, twice a day and it’s helped a lot with putting moisture back into my skin.
Curology. I used Curology for two months and absolutely loved. I was desperately trying to get rid of my acne and wanted to try something new. I had heard a lot of great reviews on Curology so I bit the bullet and tried it out. I LOVED it. It cured my acne super quickly which was such a blessing. I couldn’t have been more thrilled so say goodbye to my acne. My skin is looking fantastic now. But unfortunately, I won’t be continuing it this next month due to the price. I think it was about $20 a month for a small little bottle and I just don’t know if that’s something I can afford to do every single month. So I’ll be taking a month off and will go from there. But if you need something new to try, I highly recommend it!
Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Toner. I use this toner every day twice a day and it does an excellent job of preventing breakouts and getting rid of current ones. Since I have horrible adult acne, this product works wonders for me. AND it leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh as well.
Neutrogena Hydroboost. I’ll jump right to it: I’ve already re-purchased this. I LOVE this stuff. I had a friend of mine recommend it to me a couple months ago so I decided to try it out and it’s been fantastic for my skin. My skin is super dry some days and you can see that dryness when I wear certain foundations. So I really needed something that was going to put moisture back into my skin and I’ve completely fallen in love with the Hydroboost. I use it every morning and every night and I highly recommend it. I see myself using this for a LONG time.
NYX Worth The Hype Mascara. I’m not picky when it comes to mascaras. I feel that I have pretty good lashes to start out with so I’ve never worn falsies or spent hours looking for a good mascara or anything like that. I picked this one up because so many people recommended it and I’m loving it! I’ve now purchased it twice and I plan to continue purchasing it in the future. It doesn’t clump up, crumble, 0r wash off easily and it makes my lashes look longer and prettier. So I really love this one and highly recommend it!
Lorac POREfection Mattifying Face Primer. This is one of my all-time favorite primers. I’ve purchased this product twice now and have loved it both times. It contains salicylic acid in it so it helps fight breakouts (which is awesome for those of us with acne prone skin) and it leaves my face looking very smooth. It’s a really pretty finish. So I most certainly recommend this!
Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. I love this primer for my tinted moisturizer, but not as my daily primer. The big issue I have with it is that it just doesn’t pair well with my go to foundations. I’ll use this primer and then follow up with a foundation and my foundations always slip and slide all over my face. It doesn’t matter if I use a brush, sponge or my hand. It just doesn’t blend well at all with this primer underneath. BUT it goes great with my tinted moisturizer for some reason. It’s very moisturizing and it leaves my skin feeling very clean and refreshed. So I use this more on my off days where I don’t wear a full face of makeup.
And there you have it! My May product empties. I already have three products set aside for the June edition of this post, so be sure to check back here in early July to see what products I use up this month!
