[ad] Today I am dreaming of Christmas parties. Anyone else? We’re only halfway through the month and we’ve already had more family gatherings than I can count with so many more to go. And Christmas parties in the Bartlett household means photos…lots of photos. But I just didn't feel very photo-ready thanks to my grays (and yes, I had A LOT of grays). So I picked up @zotosprofessional hair color at @sallybeauty and these days I'm feeling gorgeous, confident, and ready to take on the holiday photos. Today on the blog, I'm sharing how I get myself photo-ready as well as what I plan to wear to this year's Christmas party! #MyAgeBeautiful #sponsored #linkinbio

[ad] Today I am dreaming...

I've been a bit MIA lately. Why you may ask? Well, because I've been half on the struggle bus and half working on a rather large project that I've had in draft mode for far too long. And I am SO excited about it. I literally woke up the other day and decided THAT was the day I'd get started on it and I've been hooked on it ever since. If you're a mom in Southern Maine, you won't want to miss this! So be sure to sign up for our email list via the link in my bio so you can be one of the first to know what's going on.

I've been a bit MIA...

Well, it's officially the day Zack and I have been looking forward to for a couple of years now. While we've already unofficially been "moved on" from military life for a couple of months now, today it's official that Zack is no longer an Active Duty Marine and I am no longer a military spouse. The first big chapter of his adult life and our life together has officially ended. It's scary almost when you've been living with all the stability of a lifestyle for so long. A stable job, stable income, health benefits, a home. It's been a challenging couple of months as we get more settled here in Maine and figure out the next step for our little family. But I know we have so much to look forward to in the next year and it's refreshing to know we have the opportunity to start over. I am so proud of this guy and I can't wait to see what the next chapter of our life has in store for us. •

Well, it's officially the day...

This mama is on the struggle bus today. This morning I spent over an hour searching for Allie's sippy cup of milk only to find it in the shower...where I looked 5+ times considering that's where she was playing while I got ready for the day. I then got the incorrect order from Dunkin and to make that even worse, it was pumpkin flavored...and if you know me, you know I cannot stand anything pumpkin flavored so I couldn't even suck it up and drink it (shoutout to @mwhited8195 for bringing me the correct drink order!). Nap time wasn't any better. A solid 40 minutes of crying before Allie finally went down...then she woke up 30 minutes later 🙄 And now I'm scrambling to get everything on my to-do list done so we can officially launch Blogmas tomorrow 😬 It's been a morning and I'm about ready for my own nap at this point. But at least it's Friday? 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

It's yet another snow day here in Maine. The last winter I spent here was in 2015 and we maybe had three snow storms all winter. This year, we've had 3-5 just in the last couple of weeks 🙄 I'm already homesick for beautiful and warm North Carolina summers 😔 anyone else here who hates winter? If you need us, Allie and I will be curled up inside with some movies and a never-ending to-do list. #bloggerlife •

Valentia Review

I received this product for review.  All opinions are my own.

Valentia Review | High Heels & Combat Boots

This past week, I was able to try two great products by Valentia: the True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask.  I admit, I was a bit nervous to try out new skin care products because my skin can be super sensitive at times.  I’ve tried some products that instantly made my face break out and then it took way too long to get it back under control again.  So it’s always nerve-wracking when I try something new on my skin.  Luckily, I liked both of these products and they were both good to my skin.

Both of these products are alcohol free, paraben free, cruelty free, and made with 98% natural ingredients.  My skin care routine is very important to me so these were huge factors in why I chose to try out these products.  It’s important to stay away from ingredients that are harmful to your skin and lately, I’ve been paying extra close attention to the ingredients in my beauty products.  If I’m able to, I try to go with products containing natural ingredients.

About the Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask*:

A blend of silk protein amino acids and botanical hyaluronic acid work together to flood the skin with moisture providing intense hydration and nourishment.  The result is a softer more luminous looking completion that feels rejuvenated from the inside out.  This product:

  • Boots collagen production
  • Increases skin radiance
  • Reduces fine lines
  • Secures skin moisture

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

  • Silk Protein Amino Acid Blend: These natural miracles increase moisture content and help in the production of collagen and elastin which decreases the appearance of visible lines.
  • Botanical Hyaluronic Acid: Penetrates deep into the skin to secure moisture and plump skin from within.
  • Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil: An anti-aging wonder berry that results in fewer fine lines, diminished sun spots, more even skin tone, and firmer more supple skin.
  • Japanese Green Tea: Contains catechins that provide anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anti-irritant effects to the skin.
  • Aloe Vera: This botanical moisturizers skin and fight aging by improving skin firmness.

Likes:
  • It left my skin feeling super soft and smooth.  Some products tend to dry out my skin, especially with it being wintertime, but this one made my skin feel very moisturized.
  • With it being a mask, I figured it would leave my skin feeling tight, but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t.  It is comfortable to wear for the 15-30 minutes that it has to be on for and, like mentioned above, it does a great job with moisturizing.
  • It worked great with my skin.  My skin tends to be a little more on the dry side this time of year, but like I mentioned earlier, it can be super challenging for me to switch up my skin care routine because my skin is just way too sensitives sometimes.  This product did not irritate my skin in any way, nor did it cause any breakouts.  I can confidently use this mask knowing it’s not going to harm my skin.
  • My skin felt hydrated and refreshed after just one use!
Dislikes:
  • The consistency.  It kind of had a weird feel and look to it.  It’s not horrible, but I do wish it was more of a lotion.
  • I didn’t care too much for the smell.  It wasn’t horrible or anything like that, but it wasn’t the best either.  If I’m going to be putting these products on my face, then I’d want it to smell a little better.  Luckily the scent does go away fairly quickly.

About the True Glow Eye Cream*:

A luxurious antioxidant rich eye cream that helps lock in moisture, repair and tighten skin for a youthful looking glow around the eye area.  This product:

  • Reduces wrinkles
  • Nourishes and hydrates
  • Tightens eye area
  • Brightens dark circles
  • Restores radiance

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

  • Astaxanthin: A powerful antioxidant that increases moisture levels, smooths fine line and wrinkles, and restores elasticity to the skin.
  • Resistem: Natural Plant Stem Cells repair and protect the skin from harsh environmental pollutants and stress related aging.
  • Vitamin C: Leaves the skin smooth and visibly brighter for a well-rested and bright-eyed look.
  • Organic Rosehip Oil: Provides intense hydration to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Arnica: A key anti-inflammatory agent to the restorative process that works to diminish the appearance of dark circles.

Likes:
  • It brightens dark circles.  As someone who doesn’t sleep well, I constantly has bags under my eyes.  It’s always dark and puffy under my eyes and sometimes it’s hard to conceal with makeup.  This product is awesome!  I use it in the morning as well as at night and after less than a week of using it, I’m already seeing a difference.
  • It’s not greasy or oily.
  • It absorbs quickly.  It barely took a minute for it to absorb, allowing me to move through my morning and nighttime routines more quickly.
  • Like the mask, this product did not irritate my skin in any way so I do plan to continue using it to see what the long term effects are.
Dislikes:
  • Again, I’m not a big fan of the scent, but like the mask, it goes away quickly so it doesn’t bother me.
  • The consistency.  It had a bit of a lotion feel to it, but at the same time it was a bit too thinned out for my liking.  I do wish it was a little bit thicker like a typical lotion would be.
  • I love that it includes a pump, but sometimes it’s not very effective.  You only need a very small amount of product at a time and the pump gives you way too much.

Overall I love both of these products so far.  I only had about a week to try them out though, so I don’t have too much I can report on them quite yet.  This is more of my initial reaction to them.  So far so good, but I will definitely have to continue using them to see what the long-term effects are.  I’m hoping I continue to love them so that I can keep purchasing them in the future.
