It’s almost the holidays you guys!! How crazy is that?! Where has this year even gone?! As we enter the holiday season, life is becoming more and more expensive around here. Everything from buying Christmas presents to preparing for holiday parties to putting together our Christmas cards. It’s no joke that life this time of year is expensive. And as new parents, we’ve been big on finding new ways to save money any way we can. The biggest way has been downloading apps like the Hopster Mobile Rebates app which saves me money at all my favorite stores. But before we dive into Hopster, here are some other great ways to save money this holiday season!
Make a Budget
I admit we are horrible with budgeting. In fact, we rarely make budgets. But when the holidays roll around, people tend to spend a lot more money so sometimes a budget is necessary. Take a step back and evaluate your bills and income to determine how much you have left over. From there you can set a budget for things like groceries and Christmas presents and holiday party essentials and anything else you’re spending money on this time of year. It’s a great way to keep track of your spending and keep yourself on the right path.
Find the Sales
Sales are a mom’s best friend. Seriously. I always wait for baby items to go on sale so I can buy in bulk. Same with household items like paper towels or laundry detergent. Even the little things can add up after a while. Your local newspaper is typically filled with miscellaneous fliers and ads for the latest sales going on at nearby stores so be sure to look for them! This also allows you to plan ahead a bit when purchasing certain items. If you know a sale is coming on your kid’s favorite snacks then why not wait until the sale to buy them? Seems pretty simple to me!
Save The Coupons!
I’ll be honest, I’ve never been big on coupons. And even now I’m nowhere near an extreme coupon or anything like that. But with the holidays fast approaching, I always take the time to skim through the newspaper for any coupons on commonly purchased items: diapers, wipes, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, shampoo, body wash. Anything that we pretty much have to buy at some point or another. A lot of stores will allow you to use multiple coupons on a single item as well, but be sure to read the fine print on those policies.
Eliminate Unnecessary Spending
Let’ be real here. We all purchase something that just isn’t necessary. For me, it’s coffee. I hate making coffee at home so I tend to spend a lot on coffee when I’m out. But this isn’t a necessity so when needed, I cut it from our budget. Same with things like eating out, having drinks with friends, and even cable! If you can get by without cable for a couple months or even by lowering your cable bill, then go for it! Learn to determine what is a need and what is a necessity. Then start cutting where needed!
Download The Hopster Mobile Rebates
Since becoming a mom, mobile rebates apps have been my absolute best friend. With apps like Hopster Mobile Rebates, you can save money at all your favorite stores.
