Where Have We Been?!

Hey everyone!! Long time no talk. I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve sat down and talked to you all. I missed you all so much, but honestly this random break was so needed.

Honestly, I wasn’t even sure if I’d come back to blogging any time soon and I still don’t really know how consistent I’ll be in it these next few months. I got to a point where I was experiencing A LOT of blogger burn out. I know it was a couple years ago at this point, but when Zack was stationed overseas, I turned this blog into my full time job. I absolutely loved it and it helped a lot in passing the time while he was away. But once he returned home, it became really challenging to continue it while we were moving cross country and by the time we got settled here, I was just plain exhausted. I was pregnant, I was tired from the cross-country move and I felt like my entire life was centered around this blog. And I quickly started to fall apart. I had lost my passion for blogging, I guess. SO I allowed myself to step away for a while and man has it been nice.

As you can see, I totally redid my blog layout….again. I went back to the basics. I don’t plan to turn my site back into my full time job any time soon. I’ll probably do some sponsored content here and there, but it won’t be heavily sponsored or anything like that anymore. For now, I just want to get back to sharing our life with you all. I want to share everything we’re up to and keep up with your lives as well. This was the main reason I had started a blog in the first place. So I’m excited to get back to it.

SO. What have we been up to?! Let’s get updated!

We’ll start with work because this is a huge reason why I’ve been so off the ball with my blog recently. Back in September, I relaunched my photography business which has been a TON of work. Seriously. That’s all I’ve been working on. I’d love to take it full time in the new year, especially once we move again and are officially settled long term. I’ve been dreaming of my in-home studio these past few months. It’s been quite exciting to have this new business venture. I actually had a photography business back in college when I lived in Maine, but at the time I specialized in weddings and high school seniors. Now I’m wanting to specialize in newborns and family. Possibly birth photography at some point as well. So it’s been a lot of fun re-building my business and updating my portfolio. I have so many plans for it in the new year.

If you want to check out my work, you can do so here: Keating Bartlett Photography.

I won’t go into too much detail here because we have her 7 month check-in coming next week (AHHH!!!!). But this child is growing SO much, you guys. It’s insane. I cried the day she turned 6 months. It’s just so bittersweet watching her grow. She’s my only baby so it’s upsetting to know she’ll never be this tiny again (*cue the tears*). It’s been hard this past month because she’s just growing and changing so much, but I’ll share all of those details with you next week! She’s a whole new baby these days! I cannot wait to share that update with you all. It might be a lengthy one so stay tuned there.

Our Family

We’ve been crazy busy these past couple months with activities. Now that Allie is a little bigger, she’s so much more fun to take places because she’s actually interested in what’s around her. We took her to Sea World last weekend and she absolutely loved it! I’ll have a whole post on it probably tomorrow? Or Friday? I’m not sure, but I promise I’ll share it! We had a blast at Sea World and she loved seeing all the fish and penguins and even the turtles!

We’re also in the beginning stages of prepping for our next move. After a lot of discussion, we had decided we wanted to move our little family to North Carolina next year so that we could pay off debts and get into a better place financially. Living in California has been really hard on us money-wise because it’s just so expensive here and we desperately need to get it under control. But after yet another conversation and after talking to friends and family, we ultimately decided we’ll be moving back home to Maine. I’m not thrilled about it due to there being next to jobs there and it being expensive to live there, but I have my fingers crossed that it won’t be that bad. So we’ll see. Lots of positive vibes are greatly appreciated!

Allie and I will be moving back in early June and Zack will move back with Jack in early October. So we’re already looking ahead and making those plans which is pretty exciting. We’re more than ready to say goodbye to military life. It’s going to be lovely.

We’re also potentially getting a new puppy in the year! One of Zack’s coworker’s dogs is having babies in February (?) and Zack’s already decided he wants one. So our little family might be growing by four paws this spring! I’m quite excited about it, but it means some extra training for Jack to prep him. He’s been fantastic with Allie so we have high hopes with adding a puppy sister to the family. So wish us luck in this department as well!

Speaking of Jack, he’s doing fantastic! We had friends over for Thanksgiving last month and he did excellent having people in the house. We were even able to take the muzzle off and he continued to be well-behaved. Zero issues! He spent the afternoon outside in the yard playing fetch with our friends. He loved it. And it made us so happy to see him enjoying himself with our friends. We really couldn’t ask for a better dog right now.

He’s also doing great with Allie. Now that she’s getting more mobile and interested in her surroundings, she’s starting to reach for him a lot more. She even pulls his hair sometimes as well. So far, he’s handling it like a champ. He wasn’t a fan of her falling on him a couple weeks ago, but there were zero growls so that’s a win in our home. He even allows her to play with his toys and brings them to her hoping she’ll throw them for him. It’s adorable to watch! These two are going to be the best of friends.

I think those are all the updates I’m willing to share right now. I have a few more posts coming your way in the next week with her 7 month update and our Sea World recap and everything else we’ve been up to so stay tuned for those!

For now, update me on what you all have been up to!! What have I missed?
